I've had my own experiences with anxiety, depression, people pleasing and what I now know to be ADHD. I know what it feels like on the inside to struggle and I know what it means to do the work to live a healthy, balanced life full of compassion and kindness.
I also know what it feels like to navigate a world that wasn't designed for someone like me. Although I do not specialize in working with folks with an ADHD diagnosis (yet!), I am frequently taking trainings and studying research on neurodivergence and the unique ways it presents itself in women and girls.
My experiences along with my training allow me to hold space for my clients free from judgment and full of empathy. Clients who work with me often tell me that they're so glad they've found a therapist who understands their challenges and situation in a real way. I'm not afraid to share my own story in sessions when it is appropriate and useful.
Helping my clients to feel empowered, grounded and competent leaders of themselves is my main focus. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Emotional Freedom Techniques. I am currently interested in learning more about Acceptance and Commitment Therapies (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
My social work background gives me a unique and holistic perspective on my clients' strengths and struggles. A typical session involves a blend of past-focused and present-focused work to both understand your patterns and where they come from and to understand how to make healthy changes in the here and now.
I strive to make my practice inclusive and safe for every race, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, gender and disability. I am in a happy and healthy cross-cultural, interracial marriage which makes me more aware of and in-tune with cultural and racial differences in my work with clients. I celebrate diversity and am committed to growth and welcome feedback from my clients on how I can improve and do better.
